CMS Board Member: Unlikely deceased principal would have been fired; Convicted murderer's taunts from death row

Good morning! This is Christine Nelson. I'm at my desk as the final touches to the rundown are put in place. I have a second to pass along to you what we're covering on WBTV News This Morning. We're on at 4:30 a.m.!

Our reporting staff found some new information on the unfortunate death of a Charlotte Mecklenburg School principal. We know Dr. Barry Bowe was going to be reprimanded by administrators for an event that happened at Northwest School of the Arts. We'll tell you about that and the potential punishment he was going to receive.

Plus, letters to a local paper from convicted murderer Danny Hembree. He basically snubs his nose at the system, boasting about living it up on death row! We'll have excerpts from his letter that will leave you shaking your head.

Also, make sure you watch through our 6 a.m. hour. WBTV's Derrick Rose is live in east Charlotte for an event many are hoping will inject life and business back to Independence Boulevard.

Your first alert weather and traffic updates happen every 10 minutes. We'll see you on the air!
