CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
It's not too often, that you see boys vs. girls, practicing against each other. Myers Park High School Girls Basketball coach, Dustin Terrel, does just that. The first-year head coach believe's that is the reason, his team is an undefeated 17-0!
The Lady Mustangs rarely practice against themselves. It's a technique, Terrel believes, makes his team work harder and faster. The high energy, game-like atmosphere keeps them ready for their ultimate goal, which is to win their first state title, in school history.
"We rarely talk about being undefeated, but we always talk about 3-10-12, the day of the state championship", Terrel says that is now the team's plan. Senior Forward Roddreka Rogers is buying into that goal.
"I want to win a state championship before I graduate, so I really take this seriously", Rogers also says people are starting to take notice, "I kind of like having the target on our backs".
The Lady Mustangs will next face the Butler Bulldogs, Friday, January 20th.
