Man waives bond hearing in murder case of young SC woman

McBEE, SC (WBTV/WIS) - The accused killer of a young South Carolina woman has waived his bond hearing.

Nickolas Miller, 23, is charged with abducting Hope Melton the day after Christmas and then raping and killing her.

Miller saw Melton at a convenience store in Jefferson, SC, and followed her car, police say. Melton's car was later found running in a ditch, police said.

Deputies say Melton was assaulted and driven to Kershaw County, where the killing happened.

Miller later was tracked down by police and lead them to Melton's dead body, police say.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said that Miller waived his right to a bond hearing, which was scheduled on Friday.

Miller is being held on a murder charge. He is also charged with kidnapping and assault in Chesterfield County.

No bond has been set.
