2012 is just around the corner, and now is the time to think about how and where you'd like to ring in the new year.

Many of us with families are looking for a safe and family-friendly way to celebrate the new year, but that's easier said than done.

Well, we may have the answer you're looking for.

WBTV and Charlotte Center City Partners are the proud sponsors of First Night, 2012.

The fun kicks off at Noon on New Year's Eve with "First Night Kids."

Activities will be spread out over several locations in the uptown area.

Children of all ages can enjoy music, dance, theater, history, science, magicians and much more.

Events will be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, The Green and the Mint Museum, to name only a few.

The kids' events will run from Noon until 5…with a kids' countdown to the new year from 4 – 5 PM.

That will be held at the main stage located in front of the Levine Center for the Arts on South Tryon Street.

Then, starting at 8 PM, First Night festivities will pick back up with plenty of music and fun.

At 11:00, the countdown begins at the main stage with the Atlanta Party Band.

The event concludes with a finale show featuring fireworks and the raising of the Charlotte Crown.

First Night is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. Come join us.
