CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Three people were injured Thursday after a truck slammed into an FBI vehicle on Interstate 485.
The wreck happened just before noon on the outer loop of the interstate near Steele Creek Road and West Arrowood Road at exit 2, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a woman was driving a pickup truck on the outer loop at about 80 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone. She swerved to avoid hitting a car and crashed into and FBI vehicle parked on the side of the road with its blue lights on, troopers said.
According to highway patrol, the agent had pulled to the side of the road to work on something.
Mecklenburg EMS said the driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with life-threatening injuries.
The passenger in the pickup truck and the FBI agent were taken to CMC and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The interstate was shut down while police and Medic worked on the scene.
So far the investigation does not indicate that texting was a cause of the crash, and detectives are working to determine if alcohol was a involved.
