CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A Child's Place has committed to help 371 homeless families this Christmas, but about 100 of them are in jeopardy of not having a Merry Christmas.
Three non-profit organizations have just informed A Child's Place it will not be able to help sponsor some families. The economy could be to blame. That withdrawal is the reason why some families may going without.
A Child's Place usually gives families food, clothing and a Christmas gift during the holidays. The organization is really hoping the community will be the Santa Claus for the families in need.
It takes about $75 per family to fill the void. Organizers say the need this year has jumped about 17% compared to last year.
"The community can get involved," A Child's Place Exec. Dir. Annabelle Suddreth said. "Whether they have time, whether they have money, whatever it is they can invest in our children that food and the clothing and wish list really add up for our children to have holiday and share with their friends and not hide."
