CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A child is seriously injured after emergency crews say they were bitten by a dog in east Charlotte.
According to MEDIC, crews were called out to the Sharon Pointe Apartment Homes on Amity Pointe Road, off North Sharon Amity Road, on Friday afternoon around 4:15 p.m. to the report of a dog bite.
When crews arrived, a child was found with potentially life threatening injuries -- including a bite to the face -- and was transported to Carolinas Medical Center - Main.
A WBTV Photographer on scene said Animal Control removed a pit bull that reportedly bit the child.
According to the apartment homes property manager, the child was attempting to take food or a toy from the dog when the attack happened.
