Four years is the length of service for your next Charlotte - Mecklenburg school board representatives.
That's right - four years…1,460 days.
hree at-large seats on the board are up for grabs.
The field is crowded -- a dozen candidates want the job.
These new board members will help make decisions for a diverse group of 138 thousand Charlotte-Mecklenburg students.
And they'll decide how to spend your tax dollars for the next four years.
Do you know who is running?
If you answered "No," it's not too late to read up on the candidates and determine who deserves your vote.
This election is important.
In addition to the school board, races for mayors, city councilmen, and commissioners are also on the ballot.
The politicians you vote for will have the authority to grant immediate change for your community.
They will be people who can make your life better or worse.
We hope there will be a record voter turnout next month.
That would send a strong message to the people running for office that voters are NOT asleep at the wheel.
