CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - We want to tell you about a bumpy ride...that's no longer bumpy!
It's in west Charlotte just off Morehead Street and Freedom Drive. It's pretty much smooth sailing now for drivers who use the ramp off South Clarkson Street to get onto I-277.
But it hasn't always been that way.
Forget about "things that go bump in the night", it was things that go "bump" all the time when getting onto the ramp there.
We showed you in June how there was a huge bump along the seam of Clarkson Street at the I-277 ramp...inches high in some places...that would truly test your suspension system.
In fact, some drivers would actually go to the other side of the traffic island to turn onto the ramp to avoid the bump.
But now, it's See, Click...FIXED!
I contacted both the state DOT and the city DOT about the problem and within the last two weeks, work crews were out and you no longer have to go over a huge bump to get to I-277. Turns out, Charlotte DOT crews made the repairs.
Granted, it's not the prettiest thing and there's still a sort of hump there, but after having driven over it myself, it sure beats what was there before.
I think a lot of folks are going to be very relieved to see this bump has finally been fixed.
