One dead in attempted murder/suicide, police say

MONROE, NC (WBTV) - Police in Monroe are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and another man injured.

According to the Monroe Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of North Sutherland Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening to the reports of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found 56-year-old Houston Alexander Wingo with a gunshot wound.

While on scene, officer learned of another gunshot victim at an apartment along McArthur Circle.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they found the body of 37-year-old Christopher Eleairoh Ludlow.

Wingo was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main where he is listed in critical condition as of Monday morning.

"It was determined that an altercation between Wingo and Ludlow took place at this residence," police told WBTV on Monday. "All indications look like this was an attempted murder/suicide."
