CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man is in jail accused of raping a teen five years ago who later gave birth to the suspect's child.
The 20-year-old victim told police she was raped by a family member when she was 15 years old.
The baby was delivered on December 6, 2006, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
In June of 2011, police obtained two DNA samples from the victim and her child.
According to a search warrant, the swabs were sent to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for comparison with DNA obtained from the suspect, 48-year-old Roderick Underwood.
On Thursday, September 8, police charged Underwood with indecent liberties with a child, first-degree rape, and first-degree sex offense.
Underwood is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail without bond.
