MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A 63-year-old North Myrtle Beach woman has been taken into custody following an alleged hit and run incident in Myrtle Beach Wednesday night.
According to an incident report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department, the suspect struck a moped carrying two passengers, a male and a female, in front of the Myrtle Beach Train Depot around 9th Avenue North and Oak Street.
The male victim told police he was driving his moped south on Oak St. when the suspect, his former girlfriend, purposely hit the vehicle from behind, injuring him and the female passenger, according to the report.
Police say the driver then fled the scene after dragging the victims several feet, and proceeded to drive her car onto the beach around 9th Avenue South.
A witness followed the suspect from the scene, where they say the suspect drove towards the ocean, then turned her car around, left the vehicle and walked north on foot where she was arrested around 7th Avenue South by Myrtle Beach Police.
The suspect, described as a 63-year-old Caucasian female, is currently in custody at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, pending charges.
The female victim is reported to be in critical condition at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. The male victim's condition is not known at this time, but is not believed to be critical.
