"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.
With so much going on in the world, it's great to hear that people still love lending a helping hand.
We'll never forget this Spring, when dozens of tornadoes slammed across Alabama.
Chaos and destruction were everywhere.
But hope came on the backs of thousands of volunteer groups who went to the area to help.
Now, the folks from New Oregon United Methodist Church in Fort Payne, Alabama are returning the help given to them.
The 59-member mission group recently headed here to Statesville to help build a Habitat home for a Vietnam veteran.
They called the project "Pay it Forward."
On August 24th, Statesville's Habitat team will do just that and head to Alabama to help work on a home damaged from the tornadoes
They pledge to bring with them 6-thousand dollars to give to the project.
It's so good to see so much giving going back and forth.
And it's about helping each other in times of need.
We just need more people to do that.
Tell us what YOU think. SpeakOut@wbtv.com.
