The areas with 6 or more inches of rain included Center City Charlotte, Mt. Holly, and the I-85 corridor in North Charlotte.

As a result of the heavy rain, the North Carolina Department of Transportation had to shut down a ramp from southbound I-85 to I-77.

In west Charlotte near the WBTV studios along Morehead Street, the rainfall was the heaviest at 6.81 inches.

The rain caused nearby Stewart Creek to overflow its banks transforming Bryant Park from a softball field to a lake.

Further west, there was about 2.37 inches of rain at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

Along W.T. Harris Boulevard, between I-77 and I-85, there was about 4.25 inches of rain reported.

The Hickory Grove area of east Charlotte received slightly more rain at 4.37 inches.

Areas south of the airport, south Charlotte, and Mint Hill, however, received less rainfall.

The Cotswold area received 3.14 inches, but the Pineville and Ballantyne areas received only 1-2 inches of rain.
