Man dies in mobile home fire near Concord

CABARRUS COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A man was found dead inside a mobile home which caught fire early Wednesday morning.

According to the Cabarrus County Fire Marshal's Office, the home caught fire around 1:12 a.m. inside a home at 4995 Aztec Drive near Concord.

Some neighbors told WBTV they smelled smoke and immediately called 911. 911 staff dispatched the Georgeville, Midland, Flowe's Store and Allen Fire Departments to the scene.

At least one person attempted to kick in the door to the mobile home to see if anyone was inside, but the fire was too intense.

When firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later, mobile home heavily involved with fire. When they were able to search the home, they found the adult male victim near a bathroom.

The body of the victim has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office. The Cabarrus County Fire Marshal's Office is on the scene investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
