The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close College Street over I-277 in downtown Charlotte from 8 o'clock Friday night until 6 a.m. Saturday.
The nightly closure is scheduled to continue through Thursday July 21. Any weather delays would extend the projected end date.
The closure is part of a bridge painting contract awarded to Seminole Painting of Tarpon Springs, Florida to remove existing paint from the I-277 bridges at College Street, Tryon Street and Church Street.
The contractor must blast off the existing paint from the bridge supports. This project will require the following detours:
- Motorists will take College Street to 11th Street to Caldwell Street to 12th Street back to College Street.
- Pedestrians will take College Street to 11th Street to Brevard Street to 12th Street back to College Street.
