Prattville area residents have not forgotten the outpouring of support that they received when the 2008 tornado ripped through east Prattville. Local schools were instrumental in helping students cope with the disaster that left many homes and businesses damaged or destroyed. Educators played a vital role in helping children adjust to the changes in their lives.
In an effort to help the victims of the April, 2011 tornadoes, a group of Prattville educators and interested parents have organized the "Pack a Backpack" campaign with the goal of collecting 250 backpacks filled with supplies for students affected by tornadoes in Autauga County and in Hackleburg, AL.
The website www.Familiesforhim.com lists complete details about the "Pack a Backpack" campaign. Interested parties can make a financial contribution, donate filled backpacks, or donate school supplies. Prattville Christian Academy has partnered with Families for Him so that tax deductible donations can be given to support the cause.
The outpouring of support from the Prattville area from public schools, private schools, area churches and businesses as well as, local citizens has been very encouraging. In order to meet the goal of providing 250 backpacks, however, help is needed. Organizers urge all those interested to make a contribution or donate supplies today.
