Charlotte auditions coming up for 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'

CHARLOTTE (WBTV) – You may miss waking up each morning to Meredith Vieira bringing you the headlines, but you can still catch her on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which will premiere its tenth season on September 5 on WBTV at 7:30pm.

In Mid-July, Millionaire fans in the Charlotte area will have the opportunity to audition for the hit game show as WBTV welcomes show producers to the Metrolina Tradeshow Expo for contestant auditions on Wednesday, July 13. 

 Auditions consist of a timed multiple choice test and for those people who pass, an interview with one of the show's producers. 

Here is a rundown of other details:

  • Two audition sessions will be held. 
  • The first session will start at 7 am and will run through 11 am.
  • The second session will begin at 4:30 pm and will end promptly at 5:30 pm. 
  • No pre-registration is required and people may line up for an audition at any time during those sessions. 

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of the 50 United States or District of Columbia.  Go to www.millionairetv.com for a complete list of rules and eligibility requirements.

The Expo is located at 7100 Statesville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28269.

 Charlotte was one of six cities selected for auditions.  Producers will also visit Harrisburg, PA (July 11), Chicago, IL (July 15), Washington, DC (July 25), Tampa, FL (July 27) and Las Vegas, NV (July 29).

 Meredith Vieira has hosted "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" since its syndication debut in 2002.  Throughout nine seasons on the show, Vieira has handed out nearly $65-million in winnings to Millionaire contestants.  She has won two Daytime Emmys for her work on Millionaire in the category of "Outstanding Game Show Host" (2005 and 2009).
