ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Federal regulators are scheduled to discuss an assessment of a nuclear power plant in South Carolina. Thursday, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is holding an open house at Rock Hill City Hall on its evaluation of the Catawba Nuclear Station in York County.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's unemployment agency has launched a free app that allows jobless residents to seek weekly benefits through their iPhones. The Department of Employment and Workforce unveiled Wednesday what it says is the nation's first such app for smartphones.

(AP) - State parole officials have rejected a request for early release from prison for former HomeGold executive Ronnie Sheppard, who is serving a 20-year sentence for security fraud after investors lost $275 million. A parole board panel voted unanimously Wednesday against releasing Sheppard.
