This Tuesday, June 14th, we'll celebrate Flag Day.
It's the one day given solely to honoring the banner that symbolizes everything good about our great nation:
our liberties…our prosperity…our potential…and our determination to preserve freedom for all of our citizens.
The Stars and Stripes is a source of pride for most Americans.
It represents our history – our shared experiences, goals, battles and accomplishments.
It epitomizes our highest ideals of independence, justice, and equality for all.
"Old Glory" shines like a beacon to the less fortunate and oppressed peoples of the world.
And while a few extremists may wish to tarnish its image, our flag derives its continued brilliance from the Americans who have fought and died to preserve it.
It is not merely a rag to be desecrated by attention-seekers or blown up while atop a federal building.
It holds more hope for the world than that of any other nation.
The American Flag is a precious possession.
So on June 14th, raise her high, and show her the respect she deserves.
Long may she wave over our UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
