CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police in Charlotte say they arrested a man who stabbed his friend in the head with a wooden kitchen utensil early Tuesday morning.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department got a call for help just before 1 a.m. coming from a house located at 3800 block of Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte.

Officers were the first emergency responders to arrive on scene and said they discovered a man with a large gash on the left side of his head.

The man suspected of the assault was sitting quietly on the front porch a few feet away, police told WBTV.

CMPD said the two got into a verbal argument over a moped.  The suspect, who's name had not been released at the time of the incident, accused the victim of loading his scooter on the back of a truck and taking it.

The verbal argument turned physical, when according to police, the suspect grabbed a wooden utensil used to wash dishes and hit the victim in the head.

The victim was able to talk with police for several minutes before being taken to the hospital by MEDIC to be checked out.

The suspect was arrested and could face charges of aggravated assault, police said.
