The American Red Cross will drop by Saint James Monday to pick up all the money that students, parents and faculty raised after a student thought it would be a good idea to host a fund drive.
A big ceremonial check will be waiting for the Red Cross representatives and it will be made out for a whopping $6,430.55! All the money will go to the tornado recovery effort.
"We've been touched by the outpouring of support for the Alabama tornado victims from our Saint James School students, parents and faculty," said Head of School Melba Richardson. "Everyone seemed anxious to give, especially knowing that the support was going to children, individuals, and families here in our very own state."
Money isn't the only thing these bright students pulled together for tornado victims. More than 400 teddy bears are heading to the hard hit city of Pleasant Grove in north Alabama.
The individuals in the picture are (l-r) English teacher Kay McGaughey, elementary student Erin Hughes, and high school student Emily Gurley.
