CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A woman says she was startled to find a man inside her east Charlotte apartment early Wednesday morning and the man removed her daughter's pants.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at an apartment in the 3700 block of North Sharon Amity Road.
The mother told WBTV Reporter Sarah Batista the suspect entered the apartment through the back door.
She says she realized something was wrong when she saw her daughter's bedroom door ajar. She says the man was in the bed with her 4-year-old daughter and had taken her pants off.
The mother said she chased the man around the apartment, and held him down until police arrived.
Neighbor Torrianne Delatorre says she doesn't blame the mom for protecting her daughter.
"If it was my kid's, yes, I wouldn't let nothing happen to my kids at all," she said.
The victims say they did not know the suspect, but police say the man lives in the neighborhood and was allowed inside by someone in the home.
The mother says the little girl doesn't understand what happened and will be okay.
A spokesperson for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified the suspect as 25-year-old Dario I. Orozco. He's charged with 1st degree sex offense of a child under 12 and indecent liberties with a child.
