RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor is sending teams of deputies to help patrol in some of the damaged areas in Alabama.
Last night, six deputies left for Marshall County near Huntsville. They expect to be there five days patrolling neighborhoods and keeping an eye out for looters. They are equipped with a self contained RV camper since the area is without power and water.
Friday night, four more Russell County deputies are leaving to do a twelve hour patrol in the Dadeville area near Tallapoosa and Lake Martin. They will work from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and return home.
Sheriff Taylor says it is very important that his office send aid to the officers and citizens in need as they deal with this horrific tragedy.
