CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after a teenage girl was killed in an early morning crash in Catawba County, that left two others injured.
According to Trooper Lineberger with the highway patrol, 17-year-old Jordan Bone of Sherills Ford was killed early Tuesday morning when the car she was riding in ran off the road and crashed into a tree along Mt. Beulah Road.
Trooper Lineberger told WBTV the car was driven by 20-year-old Tyler Good, of Newton, was driving along Mt. Beulah Road near Highway 16 around 3:51 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Troopers say he ran off the right shoulder of the road, over corrected and crossed back over the center line of the road and crashed into a tree.
Bone was killed on impact. Another passenger, 18-year-old Michael Davis, who was in the rear seat of the vehicle, was thrown from the vehicle and is listed in stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The driver, Good, is hospitalized in critical condition.
Trooper Lineberger said that he does not suspect drugs and alcohol were a factor in this crash, but said the highway patrol believes speed was a factor.
Trooper Lineberger said that Bone was a student at Bandy's High School.
