The following are a responses to recent Speak Out Editorials.

The views expressed are solely those of the speakers.

We always ask you for your input about our editorials.

So thank you Ed Piltch from Belmont for commenting after we said North Carolina should privatize the sales of alcohol:

He said, "If I can buy beer and wine in the supermarket, then why shouldn't I be able to buy booze there too?"

He also said,  "When I lived in California you could do just that.  It's time to get rid of ABC Stores completely."

In a separate editorial we suggested times are changing and libraries might be on their way out.

Many of you don't agree.

Richard Johnson writes:

"This editorial was a poorly researched opinion of someone who has made some broad assumptions based not on facts but on the presumption that every consumer will soon read only on Kindles."

Amy Dawson in Taylorsville also scolds us:

She said, "Instead of pointing out what a burden libraries are on taxpayers, you should spread a positive message of support."

We also keep getting emails about the heart-breaking case of Zahra Baker.

Janice Harmon of Troutman says:

"Zahra Baker was a young 10-year old innocent child that was abused and neglected. The Department of Social Services was notified on numerous occasions. They should also be accountable."

Send us your thoughts on our editorials.

They run every Wednesday and Saturday, and are always posted on wbtv.com under "Speak Out".
