Charlotte, NC (WBTV) - Paul writes to See, Click, Fix, "There is no school zone signs or markers on the road." Referring to one of the roads outside Ridge Road Elementary and Middle Schools.
We headed out there to check it out. And here's your answer to that Paul.
On the Ridge Road side there is not a school zone. We found out a school must "front" the road where a school zone is to be placed.
In this case, both schools actually Highland Creek Parkway. That's where the entrances to the school are. We visited that side where yes there is a designated school zone.
So things are as they should be in that area.
CDOT determines school zones according to a program set by Charlotte City Council in 2004. Requests for one can only be made by a school safety officer, principal or CMPD school coordinator.
