Pass 3 On: The enduring power of friendship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - It was a chilly Thursday morning in a shopping center on Freedom Drive where I met Vania and Cornell Carrington.

They were pretty familiar with Pass 3 On and it didn't take long to persuade Vania to brave the cold and step out her car an tell me who she wanted to Pass 3 On to.

She told me about Betty Sanchez, a woman she had been friends with for 16 years.

"Her landlord said you have 30 days," said Carrington. "[He] decided instead of renting the house she was in, he wanted to sell it. So she had 30 days to pack up."

With no job and no place to live, Sanchez put all of her furniture in storage and moved in with her mom.

But Carrington told me, "she's losing her storage. They've already called her and told her they're getting ready to put it up for auction."

So we made our way over to where Sanchez's mom lived and caught Betty totally by surprise.
