CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - If you're fortunate enough to get a tax refund from Uncle Sam you probably want it now. And with good reason, it's your money.
But what if I told you, you can't have it. Not yet, anyway.
Imagine the tax code, 16,000-plus pages long.
Two months ago, Congress made changes in the tax law. And now the IRS has to account for those changes.
Normally the IRS can't wait for you to file your tax return. Not this year. Right now they're telling you to "hold off."
And consequently if you're expecting a refund they'll be holding onto your money a little while longer.
