CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - If you have car trouble want to make sure your quote for repairs is reasonable and fair; we found a web site that is a wealth of information and could save you lots of money. is designed to let you input information about your car, the problem that needs fixing and shares with you a range that would be reasonable for that work in your neighborhood.

Ron Rabins is with Mecklenburg Fleet and Automotive.  He's been in the repair business for over twenty years.  I asked him to examine the web site and tell me if he thinks the information is legit.  "On their estimates for repairs they are spot on," Rabins said.

He recommends if you find the price that your mechanic gave you is much higher than what the web site says is fair, you need to approach your mechanic.  "It can keep everybody kind of in line," Rabins said of the  "The biggest thing with repairs or maintenance or anything with your car is somebody you can trust.  If you can't trust that person, or you have any doubts, this will help you," according to Rabins.  "You can address that with your mechanic if the price seems unreasonable, and if they don't seem receptive to negotiating, it's time to move on."

The web site is very user friendly.  You enter the make, model and year of your vehicle.  Then scan the various issues that might need fixing.  Enter that and enter your zip code and you'll be given a range of what is reasonable to pay.

Mechanic Eddie Moore had a client come in for a new heat coil for his Jeep Cherokee.  "They had been quoted one thousand dollars by a shop not too far from here, our quote was six hundred," said Moore.

So take the time to check your quote.  It might save you hundreds in a matter of minutes.
