GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) - The stepmother of a 10-year-old girl whose body was dismembered has been married at least seven times, including one period when she was married to three men at the same time.
An Associated Press investigation finds that 42-year-old Elisa Baker, who is already charged in one bigamy case, had multiple overlapping marriages starting in the 1990s.
She's still technically married to her fifth husband, who never sought a divorce.
She was indicted in January on charges she married her current husband, Adam Baker, while still married to another man. Based on the AP's findings, though, neither marriage may have been valid. (Related story: Just who IS Elisa Baker?)
The dismembered remains of Adam's daughter, Zahra, were found last year by police. No one has been charged in her death.
Elisa Baker is the Catawba County Jail on several worthless check charges and on a charge for obstruction of justice, for allegedly writing a fake ransom note when Zahra went missing in early October, police have said.

Elisa Baker lead authorities to the remains of Zahra, police say. She also told authorities that they could find the young girl's blood, bones and bodily fluid in the pipes of the home the family lived in Hickory.
