DALLAS, NC (WBTV) - Robin Rogers was born to sing the blues. She learned the life she sang out on the road as a runaway teenager.
She grew up into a legend on the blues circuit. "She had the kind of voice that could put a smile on your face and send a chill down your spine," said Robin's husband Tony Rogers.
Robin won many awards, but never the one that means the most to any blues artist. The Blues Foundation nominated Robin for Contemporary Blues Female Artist of 2011. Robin got the news just two days before cancer took her life.
"This is the kind of thing she worked so hard for, this award, it means you've proven yourself," Tony said.
The awards show is set for May 5th. Voting is determined by members of the Blues Foundation votes. If you're interested in voting you can log onto their website at www.blues.org
