Serial thief busted again

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Deputies say a petty thief who preyed on church-goers is back in jail on dozens of charges.

Kacey Wayne Adams is being held on $178,000 bond on dozens of charges that range from breaking and entering to larceny to misdemeanor child abuse.

It began on New Year's Day when several break-ins were reported at the Cripple Creek Roadhouse, then on Sunday morning, January 9, worshippers at Gold Hill Baptist Church discovered that during the sermon, someone had been breaking into cars in the parking lot.

The church is located on Old Beatty Ford Road.

Surveillance video from the church security camera showed a man going from car to car in the parking lot during the service. The church's security video shows a small SUV, which may be a Chevy Blazer, is possibly green in color.

A suspect wearing a toboggan, a dark jacket and khaki pants took 4 cell phones, 2 rifles with scopes, tools, and cash from the vehicles that he entered.

Evidence was obtained through video surveillance and other sources which led to a suspect being identified. That suspect, Kacey Wayne Adams, was a suspect in similar offenses in Davidson and Stanly County.

Joint cooperation between Rowan, Davidson, and Stanly Counties resulted in the location and apprehension of Kacey Wayne Adams.
