CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - When Kente Wright found out the building he'd been eyeballing for two years, was becoming available, he called his longtime friend Travis Foxx. Two and a half months later, The Wing Hut is operating quite smoothly.
The two friends have years of restaurant experience between them. A lot of the credit for their success comes from their years in the Community Culinary School of Charlotte. The non-profit school teaches homeless, jobless, or underprivileged people a chance to learn how to cook.
The guys both say the school gave them confidence and kept them out of trouble. They also say that's where they got their roots to make them fabulous chefs.
The Wing Hut is a small joint at 1600 South Mint Street. Their wings come with options for dozens of different home-made sauces. They've created their own twist on the Philly Cheesesteak.
The lines form around lunchtime for the eatery that's only been open three weeks.
