GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) - Here is what Donna wrote online on the See, Click, Fix page, "The bridge was supposed to be open in December. We are hearing now that it will be in March 2011. The DETOUR is getting a little old now. Do you know when Crowders Creek Rd. is going to open again?"
We drove to Gastonia to take a look. The bridge is on Crowders Creek Road near 321.
Right now what's being worked on is the actual bridge construction. DOT tells us that part is near completion. Officials say the next step is to build the bridge approach slabs, do some additional grading to these approaches and put down the final pavement surface.
So NCDOT says the project could be completed by the end of February. This is direct information DOT got for us from the project engineer.
They do say, weather has been a factor in getting this project completed. Hopefully that won't be an issue moving forward.
