Cover Story: Airport security up close

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - There is more reason to believe a Charlotte teen snuck onto a US Airways jet hid in the wheel well then plunged to his death outside Boston.

Delvonte Tisdale's mangled body was found three weeks ago in a Milton, Massachusetts street.

Detectives now say there say there was industrial aviation grease on Tisdale's pants.

Law enforcement sources tell a Boston TV station they are nearly certain Tisdale hid in the wheel well of the US Airways plane at Charlotte-Douglas.

Then fell from the jet on its final approach to Logan Airport.

You think about 9/11 and the way airport security has strengthened. How does something like this happen? How does a kid sneak onto a plane?

That's what's bedeviling investigators.

We still don't know for certain that Tisdale stowed away but if he did how was security breached?

The airport's not saying, but it got us wondering what's in place to prevent something like this from happening.

PrimeTime's Jeff Atkinson reports in our Cover Story.
