CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - "If you're in the market for the new car, if you're not, you can keep up with the new vehicles and the new technology and kind of escape, " said a Ford spokeswoman.

This week I did just that, and explored the 280,000 square foot Charlotte Auto Show that's packed with the newest and hottest trends in cars.

"I came for the technology," said Karen VonCannon, a car enthusiast.

The biggest buzz comes with the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, one of the first electric cars to hit the market. It's been voted MotorTrend Magazine's car of the year, and it's bringing mixed reviews.

"I go both ways, I'm so fast, if I was plugged up to something I'd probably have it tethered to me, and I'd take the house with me," VonCannon said.  She has been coming to the show for the past six years with her father.

"There are more vehicles and I also think that there's more technology. There's a lot more that we as consumers have to learn," VonCannon said.

While you're here don't forget to check out the history of the automobiles. They have 25 different old cars that will make you appreciate where the new stuff came from.

Whatever your pleasure, it's all here under one roof. As the commercial says, "Gotta go  to the auto show... wooo!"
