CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - At first the vendors at the Southern Christmas Show at "The Park" on Independence Boulevard were confused. They weren't sure why opening day was so busy.
Then they remembered it was Veteran's Day, a day off for many people.
The following day, many said, was just as busy and they hope it is a trend that continues through the run of the show.
For many families it's a tradition to go to the "show" together. There are 500 vendors selling everything from Christmas ornaments and fruit cake to jewelry and clothing. Over it's 12 day run, 100,000 people are expected to visit the Southern Christmas Show.
There are new vendors this year, but there are no more vendors than last year because the show is at capacity.
"We have had more inquiries from people looking to participate in the show than ever before because people are looking for new ways to make money," said show President, David Zimmerman.
The Southern Christmas Show is at the Park Expo and Conference Center now through November 21st. The show is open Sunday through Tuesday, 10am to 6pm and Wednesday through Saturday, 10am to 9pm.
New this year is valet parking, if you're willing to pay extra.
