LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) - Some of the 5th grade students at Lincoln Charter School saw the damage firsthand. Some saw it on the news. Whatever the medium, the kids took to heart the twisted trees and shattered homes.
The students banned together to raise money to purchase school supplies for the children affected by the tornados that tore through Vale three weeks ago.
Some brought in pennies and quarters. Other kids brought in money they found in piggy banks and couch cushions. The total raised was around $600. The lessons taught by the tragedy are endless, both for the kids that did the giving, and the kids who were on the receiving end.
