ELON, N.C. (AP) - Elon University officials say a freshman from New Jersey died after collapsing while walking to a morning class.
University spokesman Dan Anderson said that Michelle A. Pfleger, 18, died Friday.
Officials think she had an existing medical condition, but a cause of death was not immediately released.
The university said the young woman from Hackettstown, N.J., was an Odyssey Scholar and the recipient of the Mac Mahon Family Scholarship.
Pfleger was a 2010 Graduate of Hackettstown High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Spanish and Mathmatics Honor Society, her obituary said.
In high school she was a member of the High School Key Club and a Varsity Cheerleader. According to her obituary she was a member of the Little Derby 4H Club of Warren County, where twice she was voted Equestrian of the year.
Her family will have a visitation at Cochran Funeral Home in Hackettstown, NJ on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 pm.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home.

The school held a memorial Sunday evening at the Moseley Center.
