Group hands out free hugs in uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Some people turned away with a semi-terrified look on their face. It isn't everyday swarms of people approach a person in Center City Charlotte asking simply, for a hug.

The group of students from Paul Mitchell The School in Gastonia held signs and asked politely if they could have a free hug from passers-by. W

hile there were the hold-outs not hankering for a hug, most of the faces seemed delighted to get a hug even if from a perfect stranger.

The school wasn't selling anything or even handing out literature about their offerings.

The school says they focus on several different aspects of teaching and one of those, is love. That's the simplest display of affection, to hug another person. It's just a shame, we don't do it more often.
