WBTV Speak Out: Editorial Response

Posted: Updated:

"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.

Lots of you are responding to our Speak Out editorials...

When it came to stimulus money funding UNC-Charlotte's online dance simulation, Karl from Vale in Lincoln County writes...

"THIS IS SUCH A LARGE WASTE OF TAX PAYER DOLLARS!"

After hearing 750-thousand was given to the program, viewer Greg says...

"We all better wake up.  People are going to start losing it, if we haven't already."

A recent Speak Out talked about cracking down on drunk drivers. Candy from Watauga County's M-A-D-D writes...

"We have a major problem in this area with Appalachian State University...  ...Much too often, cases are dismissed by judges for reasons, frankly, that we do not understand."

South Carolina's Karen Olive Paull says...

"A third time offender should be locked up for ten years or longer. I'm being nice here. I won't say what I'd really like to see done to them."

When it came to "Pay to Play" for CMS, Stan Graham says...

"I do not believe in a scholarship program at all for middle school or even high school--all you are doing is opening a can of worms.  First of all, the "big" or "more recognized" sports are going to get preferential treatment."

And recently, when it came to our Estate Tax, Leslie Carlson says...

"In the interest of fairness you should have mentioned the limits of the estate tax... ...Your editorial is nothing more than propaganda without the details."
