Mayor Foxx named chair of small biz task force

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx has been named chair of a new task force aimed at healing the broken backbone of our economy: small businesses.

The Small Business Task Force of the United States Conference of Mayors is supposed to serve as a voice for small businesses on a national level, and one of the reasons Foxx got the job is undoubtedly because he...and we...have so much skin in the game.

Ninety-six percent of jobs in Charlotte are generated by small biz. Nationwide, that figure is 80%. It's no wonder our unemployment rate is hovering high above the rest of the country's.

The task force will meet for the first time in D.C. this fall.
