Drunk driving suspected in one of two crashes overnight

Charlotte, N.C. (WBTV) Police suspect drunk driving caused one car to sideswipe another and crash in northwest Charlotte overnight Sunday.

The accident happened on Rozelles Ferry Road at Old Mount Holly road around 12:30 a.m. Police said the drunk driver ended up crashes his car in a ditch and was pinned inside for about a half hour.

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center and is expected to be ok. The other driver was not hurt.

Around 4 a.m. police responded to another crash not far from that one. It happened on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road at Beatties Ford Road.

This was a single car accident. Police said the driver was not drunk, but was rounding the curves too fast. The person ended up flipping their car over in a neighbor's yard. Their injuries were not serious.
