It's the yearly creation on sale now at the Food Lion Auto Fair from Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Many folks are a little confused at first. Some think it's just a souped up hot dog. But when the cut-in-half treat is served up, people immediately change their tune.
Eileen DelPiano is the senior sous chef for Levy Foods which is a major vendor of speedway food. DelPiano says her team tried several big-ticket foods items before landing on the Mac Daddy Dog.
"We tried the "bologna ball", and it didn't work," said DelPiano before elaborating it was just plain gross.
But the Bologna Ball helped pave the way for the encrusted hot dog.
