Cover Story: Another UNC System President from Mecklenburg

DAVIDSON, NC (WBTV) - The University of North Carolina today names Thomas Ross its new leader.

Ross, the current president of Davidson College, takes over for Erskine Bowles who asked to step down earlier this year.

Ross has been Davidson's president since 2007.  He's a former Superior Court judge, state courts director and head of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.

For UNC it marks the second time in a row the Board of Governors has tapped a Mecklenburger to lead the 17-campus system.
