CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Thursday afternoon service was a little different from most at Greater Bethel AME. It was the first time the church ever held a Senior's Luncheon.

The church has struggled through difficult times in the last several years, so a program for elderly members wasn't a top priority. But a few months back, Reverend Morris Reddon Jr. got a phone call that shot the seniors to the forefront.

"She said she'd like to give us 400-thousand dollars," said the Reverend of the phone call from a niece of a deceased church member. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, wanted to give the money to start a senior group.

Reverend Reddon said the announcement brought hoots and cheers from the congregation, one woman even passed out.

The church has already purchased a van for the newly formed "Young at Heart Senior's Group", they paid for it with cash.

They're looking forward to many more blessings from the grace of the sweet woman who's now, their anonymous angel.
