Cover Story: Lake Norman fish kills

LAKE NORMAN, NC (WBTV) - Something's fishy on Lake Norman and you can blame it on the weather.

Hundreds of dead, stinking fish are washing up on shore.

It's actually one particular species of fish, the striped bass, that are going belly up.  There have been nearly 2,000 kills so far on Lake Norman in the last two weeks.

The fish aren't native to lakes here in the Piedmont, which is part of the problem.  And it's not only happening at Norman but other area lakes this summer.

PrimeTime's Jeff Atkinson explains why in our Cover Story.
