SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - When the Krispy Kreme brand decided to merge with another southern favorite, the Cheerwine donut was born. No one expected it would blow the doors off any sales projections.
The donut is for sale in local grocery stores but you'd be lucky to grab a box before their sold out. The Krispy Kreme store in Salisbury is the only retail store to make and sell the Cheerwine flavored donuts.
In two days, store manager David Oakley says employees fried, filled, glazed, and sprinkled up more than 400 dozen donuts. A massive feat for any operation.
Most customers patiently wait their turn till their box is ready, but we found one, a little too eager to get his donut on. Watch the video for the scoop.
