UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - The daughter of the Chief of Police for Monroe was charged with DWI after being stopped at a checkpoint late Saturday night.
Jeri Ashley Duncan, 25, was stopped by troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol off Highway 74.
Duncan's blood alcohol content has not yet been released by authorities.
Chief Debra Duncan released a statement on Sunday which reads: "My daughter, Ashley, is almost 26 years old and is accountable for her actions. She has to face the consequences of her decisions. There has not been nor will there be any interference from me in my capacity as police chief. The troopers and other officers at the checkpoint were doing their jobs. However, as Ashley's mother I support her and love her unconditionally."
